Intuitive Eating Group for eating disorders header

Are you tired of dieting?

Have you tried every diet, lost weight, and then, over time, gained it all back—and even more? Do you sometimes feel like you’re failing, as if everything is your fault?

But the truth is, it’s not your fault. In fact, diets don’t work in the long run. Instead, your body actually knows exactly what it needs. When you stop following all the conflicting diet “advice” and, instead, start listening to your body, it will begin to guide you—naturally and effectively.

Get off that diet merry-go-round!

Intuitive Eating offers an evidence-based approach for individuals struggling with eating disorders or disordered eating. In the 1990s, dietitians Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch created this intervention to help people stop dieting and reconnect with their internal cues around hunger, fullness, and satisfaction.

In our group, we follow Laura Thomas’s 2018 book, Just Eat It: How Intuitive Eating Can Help You Get Your Shit Together Around Food. As the founder of the London Center for Intuitive Eating, Thomas provides a practical and relatable guide. Throughout the course, group members will read the book, engage with its activities, and apply the concepts both independently and during group sessions.

Over the span of this 13-week psychoeducational and process group, members will:

  • Cultivate a positive and compassionate relationship with their bodies;

  • Re-learn how to recognize and trust internal cues to guide what, when, and how to eat;

  • Finally break up with dieting, once and for all;

  • Connect with others who share similar experiences and challenges.

We offer this group on a rotating schedule – online, in the Chicago Loop, and in our South Barrington office.
