Education and Training – Eating Disorder Treatment Specialist
Celeste Wellin provides compassionate, evidence-based eating disorder treatment in Chicago for adults seeking recovery. She has worked in the eating disorder field since 2017 and brings experience across all levels of care.
Celeste earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Macalester College and her Master’s in Social Work with a focus on clinical mental health from the University of Illinois Chicago. While her training prepared her to treat a wide range of mental health concerns, she has specialized her career in eating disorder treatment.
She has provided direct care in residential, partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and outpatient settings. Her early training included internships at the University of Minnesota’s Center for Eating Disorder Research and at Children’s Hospital’s Center for the Treatment of Eating Disorders. After completing her undergraduate degree, Celeste worked for three years at The Emily Program, a residential eating disorder treatment center.
During her MSW program, Celeste continued working in higher levels of care in Chicago, including roles at Eating Recovery Center and as a live-in eating disorder recovery coach with Koplin Consulting. These experiences strengthened her clinical skills and deepened her understanding of complex eating disorder recovery.
Celeste primarily practices from a psychodynamic perspective, helping clients explore underlying patterns and emotions that contribute to disordered eating. She also integrates evidence-based behavioral therapies, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Celeste is a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) in Illinois and is pursuing independent clinical licensure. She provides outpatient eating disorder treatment in Chicago at Birch Tree Psychotherapy, where she works with adults navigating eating disorders, mood disorders, anxiety, and trauma under the supervision of Dr. Catharine Devlin.
Her approach is thoughtful, relational, and tailored to each client’s unique recovery journey.
